It started with a dog named Essie.

When she passed away in December 2014, I made her a small memorial piece to hold her ashes. That one piece turned into a business, and that business evolved into something I love even more: handwriting jewelry.

Turns out, people don't just want to keep memories of loved ones who've passed. They want to hold onto a birthday card from their mom. A note from their kid. The handwriting of someone who's still very much here, but whose words feel too important to lose.

I get it. I made pieces from cards my husband and aging parents wrote me, and from my granddaughter's notes. I just wanted to hold onto them.

Sarah & Essie is a small, one-woman shop in Jacksonville, NC. I've been making jewelry for over 20 years and have been selling it for the last ten. Every piece is made to order, laser-engraved for a clean, lasting mark, and usually shipped in 1–3 business days.

A little about me.

I'm also a mom, a Nana, a dog mama to Toby and Riley, and a volunteer at my local animal shelter. A portion of what I do goes back to causes I care about.
